Training for welfare units in Portugal

A joint meeting took place on 6th November last to discuss “Advances and improvements in the next priorities” for the 12 RNCCI units acting as referral units for hospitalization aspects. The meeting was part of the activities carried out by Gesaworld S.A. within the 2008 Training Plan addressed at a wide range of actors in the National Network of Continued Integrated Care in Portugal.
Among other programs, the Training Plan included tutoring and training units providing RNCCI services, with the aim of qualifying them as referral units in the country. To this end, the main objective is to introduce best practices based on the integral assessment model applied in order to know the needs of hospitalized patients and to reinforce their evolution so that they may become referral units of excellence for the entire RNCCI system.

Dr. Inés Guerreiro (UMCCI Coordinator) was present at the opening seminar session on 6th November and the training sessions were headed by Dr. A. Cervera, Dr. Olga Vázquez and nurse Cristina Roquetas, members of the Municipal Institute of Socio-sanitary Care Services and Gesaworld S.A.
