Accreditation system to promote sustainable practices in healthcare centers in Panama
27/06/2012
Gesaworld Group has designed an accreditation system so hospitals and healthcare centers in Panama may include sustainable practices over their premises. The system will be also valid for implementation in the Central American region.
The design for the system includes a group of standards and criteria concerning structural elements and processes, as well as a grading mechanism to assess the level and degree of accreditation in healthcare and environmental sustainability.
The project follows the lead of existing international systems, such as the certification system called "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design" (LEED), in place since 2011 under the sponsorship of the US Green Building Council. The aim is to make new buildings more sustainable from the point of view of energy and environment.
There will be a pilot test that will result in final adjustments to the design.
