Today, 23 July 2012, Diario médico carries an opinion article by Dr. Roser Vicente, director general of Gesaworld Group, under the title "Challenge: from local context to global debate".
The article talks about the need to reform health systems worldwide in basic aspects that concern innovation and leadership. Dr. Vicente argues that the challenge for sustainable innovation is to reach an integrated vision and strong primary care services. This requires the combination of proximity with a high resolution level, plus integrated care including continuous care mostly for chronic patients.
According to Dr. Vicente, it was along these lines that the Second International Seminar on Health and Sustainability, organized by Gesaworld Group, was held at the Harvard Faculty Club in Boston last April. Under the subject "Innovation in the health sector", the seminar was attended by scientists, clinicians, administrators, authorities from the health sector and several politicians. The debate was centered around the use of innovation in three fields: technology, management and people.
