Last September we started the second stage of the study on sustainability that we have undertaken jointly with the Catalan Union of Hospitals. This second part of the study focuses on welfare centers, over 50 in the whole of Catalonia. The pilot test was carried out in three chosen centers.

The first stage of the study took place at the end of 2010 and the results were presented in January of the present year. It included 36 Catalan hospitals and it was an input from Gesaworld Group to the debate on governance of health care institutions.

The methodology followed for this second stage, as in the first, has been the use of online questionnaires. Main items included in the survey were “Sustainable policy and organization” and “Care practice and general services” (purchases, logistics, waste, consumption management, maintenance).

This second stage is still an ongoing process.
